Olivier Vernon fined $10,527 for punching Jimmy Garoppolo on ‘MNF’

Cleveland Browns defensive end Olivier Vernon was fined $10,527 for punching San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday night.

As noted by Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, the incident did not draw a flag during the game.

Looking at the video of Vernon’s punch, though, it’s clear that he should have been flagged. He took a cheap shot, decking Garoppolo with a left cross when the quarterback did not have the ball.

On another note, it’s quite honestly stunning that Vernon was fined the same amount as Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones, who had the gall to wave at a defender as he scored a touchdown.
