Former teammate of Jay Cutler thinks Dolphins will bench QB this season

Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler

Olin Kreutz and Jay Cutler played together as members of the Chicago Bears for two years. Now retired, Kreutz, like many of us, isn’t impressed by what we’re seeing from Cutler.

While watching the quarterback lead Miami’s offense through three-plus scoreless quarters (for the second straight game) against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Kreutz predicted Cutler will be benched before the season is up.

It’s not hard to agree with this statement. At the time of this writing, through nearly three games, Cutler has passed for just 550 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also showed the worst possible body language/effort you could imagine on a Wildcat play Sunday in London (watch here).

The Dolphins are in danger of falling to 1-2 on the season unless they turn things around quickly against the Saints. Cutler hasn’t been the spark we thought he might be, despite his familiarity with Adam Gase’s offense.

If things don’t change soon, Matt Moore could certainly get the call, though we’re not convinced that move would do anything positive for the Fins, either.
