New York Knicks insider suggests 1 specific star is best fit for potential summer trade

A notable reporter for the New York Knicks believes one specific player more than any other is the perfect fit for a possible blockbuster summer trade.

So far this offseason, the New York Knicks have been fairly active in making adjustments to their roster. They cut ties with veteran guard Derrick Rose and traded former first-round pick, Obi Toppin. They were able to convince Josh Hart to return by opting into the final year of his contract, then signed his former Villanova teammate Donte DiVincenzo in NBA free agency.

Yet, after a strong showing last season and in the 2023 playoffs, Knicks fans are hoping the organization can pull off a blockbuster trade for another star talent that can turn the team into a legitimate title contender next season. But at this point, a blockbuster trade is looking unlikely.

The New York Knicks were recently linked to trade talks with the Los Angles Clippers for multi-time All-Star Paul George, but new reports suggest those discussions have been called off. There were also rumblings the team could show interest in future Hall-of-Famer James Harden, but their interest seems to be lukewarm.

New York Knicks record (’22-’23): 47-35

While the roster seems to be set for the new season, there is still a ton of time before training camps open in September. If they are to pull off a game-changer deal before then, New York Post Knicks reporter Zach Braziller told the “Let’s Talk Knicks” podcast that there really is only one perfect fit that could be available, and that is Toronto Raptors’ rising star OG Anunboy.

“I do think if the right trade presented itself, they would be open to it. One guy I’ve kind of been high on for a while is OG Anunoby. The Raptors used their 13th pick on Gradey Dick. He plays the exact same position. Anunoby has one year left on his deal. He recently switched from Klutch to CAA. We all know that CAA and the Knicks are basically locked at the hip.

“I think OG Anunoby is, obviously, a name to watch because he would fit perfectly here. He’s a big wing. He’s a really good defender. He’s a good three-point shooter. The question is, what’s it going to take to make that happen?”

The NY Post reporter admits the team is not actively looking to make a trade with close to three months left before the start of NBA training camps.
