This night was supposed to be all about Caitlin Clark versus Paige Bueckers, but UConn Huskies guard Nika Muhl did not get the memo. Clark came into the night as the nation’s leading scorer, averaging a ridiculous 32 points per game, but Muhl had other plans.

The Croatian may be listed as two inches shorter than Clark, but she didn’t let the Iowa basketball superstar out of her reach. Clark took plenty of attempts in the first half, but she made just 3-of-11 shots, and finished with an abnormally low (for her standards) six points.

For the first time in her career, Clark didn’t sink a 3-point shot in the first half of NCAA Tournament play, and we have Muhl to blame or thank for it.

While we came to see Clark, it’s Muhl who’s drawn all the attention so far.

Of course, Clark couldn’t be frozen out for long. As soon as the second half started, Clark hit her first three of the game, on her seventh attempt.
