Recently, the Eagles did pick up Foles’ $20 million option for the 2019 season, but he paid the necessary $2 million to get out of that option. The team then had to decide whether to use the franchise tag to keep him in their grasp, which would have cost $25 million-plus.
Now that Foles is hitting the open market on March 13, you can be sure teams in need of a quarterback will be hotly pursuing his services. He’s the best of a bad bunch of NFL free agent quarterbacks this year and should land a lucrative contract somewhere in the 3-4-year range.
An Eagles legend, thanks to his work during the 2017 postseason, the Super Bowl LI MVP has had some great seasons, and a few bad ones as well. Over the course of his seven-year career, Foles has completed 61.6 percent of his passes for 11,165 yards with 68 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.
