Capitals Lineup

The Capitals’ roster will once again feature both NHL talent and players battling for spots.

The biggest news is captain Alex Ovechkin making his 2025-26 preseason debut on Thursday night. Ovechkin, 40, has missed time in training camp due to a lower-body injury. But he seems to be feeling better as he’s been practicing. Last season, Ovechkin surpassed Wayne Gretzky for the most career goals in NHL history.

Defenseman Martin Fehervary will also be making his preseason debut. Fehervary has been recovering from knee surgery, which kept him out of Washington’s 2025 playoff run.
