Let’s take a look at at some takeaways from the Golden Knights’ 4-3 Loss to the Lightning in Tampa.
On Thursday night, the Golden Knights fell 4-3 to the Lightning in Tampa. Let’s take a a look at three takeaways from the game.
Hill’s Early-Season Struggles Continue
It’s been a rough start to the 2024-205 season for Golden Knights’ netminder Adin Hill.
For the third time on the young campaign, Hill let in. He has also allowed at least three goals in all four of his starts so far.
Obviously, it is still very early in the year. However, Hill’s .851 save percentage thus far is nowhere near good enough. If Vegas wants to be a contender this season, they will need much more from their top goaltender.
More Assists From Eichel
One bright spot in the loss was the play of Jack Eichel. Eichel had his second multi-assist game of the year, bringing his total up to eight on the young season.
The 27 year-old center’s career high for assists in a season is 54, which he hit in 2018-2019 with the Buffalo Sabres. If Eichel can stay healthy, he is on pace to surpass that mark in 2024-2025.
Power Play Continues to Impress
Another positive to come out of the game was Vegas’s power play. Pavel Dorofeyev’s tally at 15:20 of the first period was the Golden Knights’ fifth power play goal of the young season.
Vegas has scored at least one power play goal in four of their five games thus far, and they are currently operating at a 50% success rate on the year. If the Golden Knights can keep scoring on the man advantage at that rate, they will pose a formidable challenge to any opponent that they face.
Up Next
With the loss, The Golden Knights sit at 3-2-0 on the young season. They will conclude their first road trip of the year with a visit to the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Saturday. Puck drop from Sunrise, Florida is set for 3:00 PM PDT/6:00 PM EDT.
