Hello, everyone. It’s a bit of a slow time in the season. The Vegas Golden Knights have clinched a playoff berth, so there’s little on the line. So, let’s pass the time with a Mailbag.
It’s been a while since Vegas Hockey Now has done a Mailbag. The last one was when the Golden Knights took two weeks off for the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament. So, by my count, it’s been just under two months. Let’s rectify that.
You ask, we answer. There’s no shortage of topics to talk about right now. The Stanley Cup Playoffs are less than two weeks away, and for the seventh time in their eight seasons, the Golden Knights are in. Their opponent hasn’t been determined yet, but the two likeliest teams are the St. Louis Blues and the Minnesota Wild.
We can look beyond the postseason to the offseason. Due to the salary cap rising, the Golden Knights will have more money than expected to play with. They could extend the contracts of a few roster players on expiring contracts—namely, Nic Hague, Brandon Saad, and Victor Olofsson. And further away on the horizon is Free Agency.
