In a bit of bad news for the Vegas Golden Knights, the team has announced that defenseman Alex Pietrangelo will be out for the “foreseeable future” after being evaluated back in Las Vegas Wednesday.

Pietrangelo is suffering from an upper-body injury sustained blocking a shot in the third period Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks. While head coach Pete DeBoer declined specifics, he did say he didn’t see Pietrangelo’s injury as a “long, long-term” issue, he did say the prized free agent acquisition would be out for the foreseeable future.

This season Alex Pietrangelo has eight assists and 10 points with the Golden Knights in 18 games. He signed a seven-year, $61.6M contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in the off-season.
