Jake DeBrusk scored his second goal of the night at 2:58 of overtime, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 at Rogers Arena on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

The Canucks had not won at home since March 17.

Elias Pettersson had two assists, Zeev Buium scored for the first time in 25 games, and Kevin Lankinen made 31 saves as the Canucks stretched its winning streak to three games.

DeBrusk admitted afterward that the support from fans had still been strong through a rough year. This 4-3 overtime finish gave them one more loud send-off before the schedule moved on.

At 9:21 of the first period, defenseman Elias Pettersson opened the scoring with a shot from the top of the left circle that slipped under Darcy Kuemper’s blocker through traffic.

Quinton Byfield tied it late in the period by getting behind Brock Boeser on a 2-on-2 rush and redirecting Alex Laferriere’s pass through Lankinen.

Then the second period turned into a sprint. DeBrusk put Vancouver back ahead on the power play just 52 seconds in, Adrian Kempe answered 12 seconds later, and Laferriere gave Los Angeles its first lead at 2:17 after burying his own rebound.

That could have been the point where the Canucks sagged. Instead, Buium tied it 3-3 at 9:20 of the second on a give-and-go with Nils Hoglander, finishing into an open net after driving down from the right circle.

Adam Foote said afterward he was proud of the group for how it kept grinding against what he called a big, heavy team.

It was Buium’s first goal since January 23, and it came at a good time because Los Angeles had started to look more settled in the middle part of the game.

The third period had no scoring, but it was not quiet. Lankinen had to hold up under 34 Kings shots for the night, and Kuemper turned away 21 of 25 at the other end.

ESPN’s game report listed Byfield and Laferriere with a goal and an assist each, which fits the broader problem the Kings created all evening. Their top contributors kept finding room, and Vancouver had to stay sharp just to get to overtime.

Then came the finish. Pettersson found DeBrusk at the back door in overtime, and DeBrusk choked up on his stick to jam home the winner at the right post. It was a simple play, but a big result for a team that have struggled all season.

Los Angeles is now 13-20 in games that go beyond regulation, while Vancouver has now won three straight for only the third time all season. The Canucks still finished with the worst home record in franchise history at 9-27-5, so nobody should confuse this with a clean ending. Still, for one night, they gave the fans something better to take home.
