There was a whole lot of good from tonight’s game for the Senators, but all of that is overshadowed by the bad. How bad is hard to know just yet. Partway through the second period, Jake Sanderson was hit by Brandon Montour. He left the game favouring his right shoulder and did not return. Time will tell what the diagnosis is. For now, let’s dive into the details on the Senators 7-4 victory over the Seattle Kraken.

Foegele’s First as a Senator
How about that for Warren Foegele’s Senators debut? Having been traded to Ottawa by the Kings just a couple of days ago, Foegele scored the Senators fifth goal of the game. He played on the fourth line with Eller and Zetterlund, playing just under 12 minutes of ice-time, all at even strength. He came as advertised, playing a responsible two way game while also chipping in with some heavy forechecking.
Pinto’s Big Night
Here were Pinto’s final numbers tonight:
- 1 goal, 2 assists, 4 PIMs, 17:26 time on ice
The penalty minutes are a little strange from Pinto, but the production is exactly what the Senators need from their two-way centre. Pinto is always asked to carry a heavy load defensively, whether it be killing penalties or taking on the opposition’s best line. His offense hasn’t been as consistent, though. Tonight marks his first multi-point game since January 1st. It’s his first three point game since the season opener.
Additional Notes
Tim Stützle extended his point streak to 12 games, while also scoring 30 goals for the second time in his career. Now let’s see if he can get 40. Tyler Kleven has a knack for laying a big hit after one of his players has been hit hard. It wasn’t long after Sanderson left the game that Kleven delivered the boom on Jordan Eberle. Kleven also scored a goal in this game. The not-so-good was his cross-check on Jared McCann late in the game. He ended up with a 5 minute major and a game misconduct. Let’s hope he doesn’t earn a suspension there. Let’s also hope the incoming Jake Sanderson update is a positive one.
