After back to back runs to the semi-finals, in 2021 and 2022, the New York Islanders find themselves in a much different offseason. This is the first season after
“If some major free agent remains unsigned until Week 1 of the NFL season, they’re going to the Islanders.”
It was a joke by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman in his latest 32 Thoughts piece, but one that has some truth to it.
If you remember last offseason, the New York Islanders did not announce a single signing until September 1, before they announced four: Kyle Palmieri, Anthony Beauvillier, Casey Cizikas, Ilya Sorokin.

Per Sportsnet, the Nashville Predators have offered Filip Forsberg an eight-year deal, with no dollar amount known, but the rumors circulating is that it is somewhere in the low $8 million range.
Per a league source, Forsberg is likely staying put in Nashivlle, but they believe Gaudreau is on the move. Although the two teams most talked about in landing Gaudreau is the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers, Friedman also believes that the Islanders could be a stealth team for G
