The New York Islanders sent Oliver Wahlstrom to Sweden to develop his game more while they waited to see when the 2020-21 season would begin. What they didn’t want was for one of their top prospects to get hurt.
Unfortunately for Wahlstrom and the Islanders, that’s what occurred on Wednesday. The 20-year-old forward suffered a leg injury during the second period of AIK’s matchup with Tingsryd after going hard into the boards.
Wahlstrom laid on the ice for several moments after the scary collision until he finally left with a team doctor several minutes later.

No update has been given on Wahlstrom and he went to the team dressing room with the team doctor, according to hockey journalist Uffe Bodin.
