Don’t get too excited just yet New York Islanders fans. The lines could still change.

But if Sunday was any indication then It’s starting to look good for Oliver Wahlstrom and/or Kieffer Bellows to make the opening night roster. Even more exciting, the prospect of the two playing alongside Jean-Gabriel Pageau like they were during the Islanders’ fourth scrimmage of training camp.

Trotz has said several times during the week that the kids had been making a strong push during camp, and that’s what earned them the chance to play with the experienced centerman on Sunday.

“I think with Bellows and Wahlly we wanted to see a little bit more of an offensive side,” Trotz said. “Pager, I think he’s one of the smartest players, most complete players you’ll find in the league and we put the two kids with him. They had a really good day.
