A lot can certainly change, just within a few days. Suddenly, there’s panic in the Kirill Kaprizov situation. That’s new since last week. The New York Rangers reportedly were shot down by their star, which has many looking toward next summer for the New Jersey Devils’ rival.

The one thing that hasn’t changed over the last few days are the impressions the rookies in New Jersey are making. Last night was no different.

More on that below.

Let’s do that hockey.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

Forever Blueshirts: Looks like Artemi Panarin isn’t going to be giving the New York Rangers a hometown discount. According to a report, the 33-year-old Russian winger rebuffed a team-friendly offer.

The Athletic ($): Okay, what the heck is going on with Kirill Kaprizov? Last week, there was no panic immediately after he turned down the most lucrative offer in NHL history. Now, the Minnesota Wild owner is dodging questions about the franchises’ superstar by simply stating, “Nothing to gain. Everything to lose.” Ummmm, okay then.

Florida Hockey Now: This was the big news of the day, and the news that nobody wanted. Florida Panthers captain, Sasha Barkov, is out for the entire 2025-26 season after tearing his ACL & MCL during Thursday’s practice.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Marc-Andre Fleury is home. The Pittsburgh Penguins welcomed Flower back to the rink on Friday, where he suited up and tended the goal, but not before he planted a couple of pranks around the arena. Not so much a prank, on the ice, he robbed his old pal, Sidney Crosby, with the classic pad stack.

San Jose Hockey Now: Speaking of Crosby, ex-Penguins goaltender, Alex Nedeljkovic plays for the San Jose Sharks now, and he sees the parallels between the Pittsburgh legend, and Macklin Celebrini.

Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens are a team with elite potential. Their first line featuring Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky is good enough to compete with the best. However, the glaring hole on the second line is already taking center stage, says Marc Dumont.
