Well, would you look at that. The “most underrated” winger in the game is not so underrated anymore, is he? I guess that’s what happens when you break a 31-year-old New Jersey Devils franchise record.

More on that below.

Elsewhere, Team USA is still starving for victory, Elias Pettersson out for revenge, and more.

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils Trade Rumors & News

NHL Network: The NHL Network started their annual top-20 rankings on Wednesday, starting with wingers. Devils winger, Jesper Bratt, cracked the list after he was unranked last season, placing 12th overall in the NHL.

Looking at the rankings, 12th overall is actually a snug fit for Bratt. It’s hard to argue he’s surpassed the lies of Jake Guentzel (11th), Artemi Panarin (10th), or Kyle Connor (9th) quite yet. And you won’t see him ahead of the upper echelon players such as Matthew Tkachuk, Mikko Rantanen, David Pastrnak, or the No.1 winger, Nikita Kucherov. Yet, he is ahead of big names such as Brady Tkachuk, Alexander Ovechkin, and Brandon Hagel.

Bratt’s inclusion is an eye-opening development for everyone who is not a Devils fan. Not bad for a 6th-round draft pick, eh?

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

NHL.com: Vancouver Canucks center Elias Pettersson say’s it’s revenge against himself next season. He looks physically bigger. The fighting between him and J.T. Miller, and the losing, did not sit well, so he’s doing something about it.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Hindsight is 20/20, right? Well, it’s officially been two years since the Erik Karlsson trade that landed him with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Here’s the final verdict from Dan Kingerski.

San Jose Hockey Now: As the No.1 overall pick two drafts ago, Macklin Celebrini gets a lot of attention from fellow first overall picks in previous drafts. So, what advice does John Tavares have to bestow on the 19-year-old San Jose Sharks forward?

TSN: Bill Guerin sure knows how to make any hockey journalist happy. He’s a quote machine, and in terms of the upcoming Olympics, he said, “We have to win. We have to win another one of these. It’s been since 1996. We just have to find a way.” The 4 Nations taste left in his mouth is sour.
