There was a silence at the New Jersey Devils’ postgame press conference on Saturday unlike any other this season. Sheldon Keefe directly called out one of his defensemen in a scathing tone. New Jersey is floundering their way to the postseason, and their head coach is seemingly sick of it.
Tough love appears to be the approach.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: At this point, fans of the Pittsburgh Penguins want to fall as far as they can in the standings for the chance at a better draft pick. However, Tristan Jarry has been strong since his recall. From a Penguins perspective, it might seem like a bad thing at first glance, but think again.
NHL.com: It’s amazing to think that Pat Maroon’s career could have gone entirely different right after he left the Devils had he not hit the jackpot with the St. Louis Blues. After leaving New Jersey, Maroon went on to win three straight Stanley Cups with two different teams (Blues & Tampa Bay Lightning). Now a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, Maroon is hanging up the skates, retiring at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Everything about this revelation was perfect. Maroon, a St. Louis native, revealed he was retiring on the pre-game broadcast ahead of Chicago’s tilt with the Blues on Saturday. He solidified his legacy among the Blues faithful as a pivotal part of St. Louis raising the Stanley Cup in 2019. After the Blues defeated the Blackhawks 4-1 on Saturday, Maroon was announced as the No.1 star of the evening.
