There are eight days until the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. After last night’s shelling by the Colorado Avalanche, it’s become increasingly more obvious the New Jersey Devils need more than just a depth forward. They need an injection of offense, and they’ve needed it for a while. The concern is growing.
In the links, our Nick Natale observes how the bluelines future could be impacted.
Elsewhere, lots of NHL trade chatter, John Tortorella’s stark comment, and Patrick Roy rips his team.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils News
New Jersey Hockey Now: Jonas Siegenthaler’s injury opens up the door for opportunity. On a crowded blueline, the Devils’ defense core could see its future shift as a result.
More NJHN: Last night’s loss was ugly. Mackenzie Blackwood continues to haunt New Jersey. And as a result of a late pull amid a brutal loss, Jake Allen stormed off the ice.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Sportsnet: Nick Kypreos revealed his NHL Trade Board 3.0, and according to the Sportsnet insider, the St. Louis Blues are open for business. Perhaps it’s a pipe dream, but could the Devils reel in Jordan Kyrou?
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Buckle up. Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas will be on the job for two years in June. The first quarter of his seven-year contract was spent trying in vain to patch a leaky dam and, upon obviously failing that nearly impossible task, setting the table for the next era of Penguins hockey. Now, he’s on the clock.
NYI Hockey Now: The New York Islanders, fresh off a humiliating defeat against the New York Rangers, practiced Wednesday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center. After a lazy defensive effort, the team came out slow and unenthused about practice. Patrick Roy halted drills and ripped into his team.
Philly Hockey Now: Everyone knows that Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella is brutally honest. He won’t sugarcoat what it means for his team at the upcoming NHL Trade Deadline. “We can’t fall in love,” Tortorella explains. As the Flyers continue their rebuild process, he knows more changes are coming.
Montreal Hockey Now: From the Montreal Canadiens perspective, they know Jake Evans and Joel Armia’s days could be numbered. MHNs Marc Dumont analyzes which three teams can use them most. Did the Devils make the cut?
Chicago Hockey Now: Seth Jones keeps on making headlines. First it was the news he was seeking a fresh start with a contender, requesting a trade from the Chicago Blackhawks. Now, he’s criticizing his team’s effort with one foot out the door. Perhaps, the 30-year-old defenseman isn’t wrong, however.
