NJHN Daily: Devils Nico Hischier Update; Chris Kreider Rangers Trade?

It’s interesting to zoom the lens out on what’s going on with Tri-State hockey. The New Jersey Devils’ win-now window is just opening. Meanwhile, the New York Rangers’ window is closing. The New York Islanders’ window seems to be closing, but we’ll know more when we find out who the general manager is going to be.

Regardless of their differences, they’re all going to be making changes this summer.

Part of those changes for the Blueshirts might involve cutting ties with some household names. More on that in the links.

Elsewhere, an update on Nico Hischier’s injury, Pittsburgh’s coaching search, and the case for Brendan Shanahan on Long Island.

Devils fans were rightfully concerned as captain Nico Hischier suffered a lower-body injury playing for Switzerland’s at the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship. Switzerland, however, provided an update that his injury is “not serious,” but Hischier will miss the remainder of the tournament as a precaution, and will rehab this injury as he begins his offseason.
