
It was certainly interesting to see the report yesterday that the state of New Jersey is getting another hockey team. They have the New Jersey Devils, the New York Sirens are a tenant, and now Trenton is seemingly gaining a minor hockey affiliate.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Devils goaltending prospect Mikhail Yegorov moves up 32 spots in a 2024 NHL re-Draft, becoming a first-round selection.
The most interesting news of yesterday was the revelation that New Jersey is getting another hockey team. Frank Seravalli reports that the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL are moving to Trenton New Jersey.
Franchise News: Hearing @ECHL's @UtahGrizzlies are relocating to Trenton, NJ to play at CURE Insurance Arena – former longtime home of the Titans – for the 2026-27 season.
Expect a formal announcement on Tuesday and a contest to follow to name the team.

Even more interesting? The Devils’ affiliate agreement with the Adirondack Thunder ends after this season. Perhaps, there’s a new pipeline ahead.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Daily Faceoff: With players beginning to arrive in their respective cities, word is starting to surface on the results of the offseason. Matthew Knies commented on his ex-teammate, Mitch Marner, fleeing for Vegas. “He found something that worked better for him.”
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Kyle Dubas is going into his third season as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dan Kingerski uses hindsight, and analyzes his Penguins trade tree to explain how they got where they are today.
San Jose Hockey Now: Klim Kostin put up his bat signal and let the 32 teams in the NHL that he wants to continue his career. In the process, he explained he believes he has more to give, and the San Jose Sharks minimized him as just a fighter.
Colorado Hockey Now: Here’s more on New Jersey getting another hockey team. The Utah Grizzlies, an ECHL extension of the Colorado Avalanche, will play one final season in their current home before relocating to Trenton, New Jersey.
Chicago Hockey Now: It’s a new era for our sister site in Chi-Town, as Jack Bushman has taken the reins at CHN. He takes over at a good time, too, as the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks era evolves with some top talent hitting the ice this week.
