New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils reduced their roster size yesterday from 61 to 45, cutting 16 players in training camp. There weren’t any surprises, but the Devils did have one or two hopefuls head to their American Hockey League affiliate for the opening of their training camp.
Sportsnet: On the latest episode of 32 Thoughts Podcast, Elliotte Friedman has a small update on Luke Hughes’ contract negotiations. He couldn’t offer much, and stressed he wanted to be careful with what he said because things can change with just one phone call (see Mason McTavish), but the word is there is “still work to be done.”

San Jose Hockey Now: Macklin Celebrini is certainly the future of the San Jose Sharks. The future superstar forward is certainly sitting next to the likes of Tyler Toffoli or Jeff Skinner, veteran forwards who have thus far had successful careers, right? Naw. He’s sitting next to Ryan Reaves, who has been successful as well, but in a MUCH different way. So, what can Celebrini gain from one of the NHLs toughest? (+)
The Athletic ($): Here’s an interesting one. The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly shopping 2020 first-round pick, Lukas Reichel. The 23-year old is talented, but hasn’t quite figured it out in The Windy City. So, where will he be next week?
