The New Jersey Devils’ projected announced their roster for the 2025-26 NHL season. For the most part, the roster, which includes 13 available forwards, seven available defensemen, and two available goaltenders, was to be expected.

However, there is a player or two who weren’t slam dunks to make it to opening night, and have converted on their chances.

Forwards

Of note in the forward group, Luke Glendening remains on a professional tryout contract, and is expected to sign with the team. He’ll center the fourth line between Paul Cotter and Arseny Gritsyuk.

Shane Lachance successfully converted his first opportunity to secure a spot on the roster. The former BU captain was acquired in a trade from the Edmonton Oilers last season. Lenni Hameenaho, drafted in the second round of the 2023 NHL Draft by New Jersey, has also been named to the NHL roster in his first season playing in North America.

The mix of defenseman was suspected. Dennis Cholowski makes the roster with defenseman Seamus Casey dealing with a lower-body injury, and unavailable for opening night.

Brett Pesce remains on the roster, and is expected to be able to play on opening night.
