The New Jersey Devils (30-20-6) need the 4 Nations Face-Off break perhaps more than anyone in the NHL right now. They’ll try to collect two more points before dispersing for two weeks against the Montreal Canadiens (25-24-5).

The Habs have cooled off of late, with a 3-6-1 record in their last 10 games. In their last tilt, the Devils were wiped by the Vegas Golden Knights who have also seen their fair share of struggles recently. Perhaps, the Habs’ play of late isn’t as much a factor as a result.

What to Know vs. Canadiens

The Devils and Montreal conclude their 2024-25 regular-season series (2-0-0).

The Devils are 9-0-0 against Montreal since April 1, 2018. The last time that the Devils dropped a contest at Montreal was a 2-1 overtime loss on Dec. 14, 2017.

The last time that the Devils lost in regulation at Montreal was Dec. 8, 2016, after a 5-2 defeat.

—The team’s nine-game road winning streak tied the franchise record, which was first earned from 2000-01 to 2005-06 against Florida  (9-0-0).

The nine-game stretch is tied for the longest active road winning streak in the NHL (MIN vs ANA; CGY vs ANA; TOR vs NJD).

Jesper Bratt (1g-1a) and Dougie Hamilton (0g-2a) both recorded two points against Montreal in the last matchup on Jan. 25. Jack  Hughes tallied the overtime winning goal. J. Hughes owns nine career points (3g-6a) in six road games at Montreal.

—Netminder Jake Allen defeated his former squad, after recording 29 saves on 32 shots.
