Following their spirited tilt on Tuesday, in which the New Jersey Devils defeated the Florida Panthers 4-1, the two clubs are set for a rematch tonight.
LAST TIME: Markstrom, Devils Overcome Panthers 4-1 in Impressive, Physical Victory
It’s one of the more interesting parts of both the Devils and Panthers schedule, where they’ll see the same team two times in a row.
When asked about the unique back-to-back format, it was a something the players explained they are a fan of.
“Honestly, I thought about it a lot when the Covid season was going on. You went to cities and played them twice. I enjoyed it,” Erik Haula explained. “There’s less travel, you can focus on your recovery more and in some ways it’s easier to just go back to the hotel and regroup for the next day, then do it again. So yeah, overall, I would be a fan of it.”
“You get a lot of it in the American Hockey League. There are some benefits to it,” Sheldon Keefe explained. “You prepare for the same team, it’s a lot simpler, easier that way. You get a chance to make some adjustments and such between games. You like that it’s sort of the playoff feel in a way.”
Let’s look ahead to tonight’s contest.
