The last time the New Jersey Devils (32-21-6) squared off with the Colorado Avalanche (33-24-2), the latter looked very different.

The big change was the shocking subtraction of Mikko Rantanen. They traded the Finnish star to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Martin Necas and Jack Drury. Necas has been playing excellent hockey for the Avs, and would be considered their best add if it werent for ex-Devils goaltender, Mackenzie Blackwood, stabilizing their goaltending alongside fellow ex-goaltender, Scott Wedgewood.

The irony.

Regardless, the Devils have put together consecutive strong performances since returning from the 4 Nations Face-Off break. They’re hoping to continue their positive performance amid their five-game western swing.
