The heat has certainly been turned up of late for the New Jersey Devils amid a three-game losing streak. More on whether this is the same ol’ Devils team or not in the links below.
Elsewhere, Habs rumors are flying about, the sale in Pittsburgh has a pulse, and—plug your ears Devils fans—encouraging signs in Philly.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils Trade Rumors & News
New Jersey Hockey Now: As I alluded to yesterday, the Devils have a Jack Hughes problem. Their identity is completely ripped out from underneath them when he’s hurt, and it’s reflecting in their play. The Devils are proving to be the same team, just in a new season. Can they flip the script?

Forever Blueshirts: Ex-New York Rangers captain, Ryan McDonagh, is still getting it done. That’s why the Tampa Bay Lightning learned their lesson and re-acquired him from the Nashville Predators. On Thursday, the Lightning extended his stay in Tampa, inking him to a three-year contract extension.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: There were rumors that the Pittsburgh Penguins sale was dead. However, those rumors were greatly exaggerated. It is, in fact, still ongoing, and have even made progress in the process. More inside from Dan Kingerski.

That has a lot to do with Max Shabanov, a name many of you might not yet be familiar with, who the Isles are leaning on lately.
Philly Hockey Now: You know what’s not helping the Devils in the standings right now? The unexpected positive play of the Philadelphia Flyers. Here’s why their latest wins are showing some encouraging signs.
Montreal Hockey Now: Everyone knows the Montreal Canadiens are in the market for a center. Preferably, a second-liner up the middle, however, recent reports are suggesting they could be in on some of the available high-profile wingers, too.
