The injury woes for the New Jersey Devils continue.
Timo Meier was absent from the Devils’ morning skate ahead of their tilt with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
Meier was banged up in the Devils’ 6-3 loss against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday taking a hit along the boards. Following Thursday morning’s practice, head coach Lindy Ruff explained Meier would be a game-time decision as “He got banged up a little last game.”
When the Devils hit the ice for warmups against Pittsburgh, Meier was absent indicating his scratch from the lineup.
Max Willman drew into the lineup against the Penguins, however, Chris Tierney was a healthy scratch. Ruff opted for the 11 forwards and seven defenseman approach with Colin Miller making his Devils debut.
Previous to the injury, Meier was on a three-game goal streak and was seemingly putting it all together following an early season benching. Meier has five goals and 11 points in 14 games thus far.
Add Meier to a growing list of key injuries for the Devils. Miller and Tomas Nosek are two players who the Devils finally just got back. However, New Jersey is feeling the major impact of the absences between Jack Hughes and Nico Hischer who both remain out with upper-body injuries.
With New Jersey forced to have another new look tonight, here’s the workflow:
