With the NHL Olympic break quickly approaching, it’s the perfect opportunity to discuss the next wave of Montreal Canadiens prospects.
To establish our initial prospect rankings, which will be updated throughout the rest of the season, we’re counting on Canadiens fans to vote on the top 10 Habs prospects.
Once the fan rankings are set, we will use them to publish our Montreal Canadiens prospect power rankings, a list that focuses on recent results from various prospects, to determine which young player is performing best from week-to-week.
Montreal Canadiens Prospect Rankings Instructions
It’s a straightforward process, but we need your help to establish our list.
Pick the top 10 Montreal Canadiens prospects in the form embedded below, and rank them between 1 and 10, with 1 being the highest ranking available.
Please only rank 10 players, or your submission will be voided.
Rank them in terms of how much value you think they hold in the team’s prospect pipeline. Only one answer per column is allowed.
To qualify for our list, players must be 23 years old or younger. They no longer qualify if they’re currently playing in the NHL. Admittedly, it’s an arbitrary cutoff, as the definition of a prospect varies wildly from outlet to outlet, but the goal is to focus on young players who are yet to make their mark in the NHL during an entire season.
In other words, despite players such as Lane Hutson, Ivan Demidov, and Juraj Slafkovsky being young enough to qualify for our rankings, but they are no longer considered prospects, seeing as they’re full-time NHL players.
Jacob Fowler, on the other hand, did play in the NHL, but is currently playing for the Laval Rocket, and thus qualifies for the list.
The prospects are listed alphabetically, with the goaltenders listed at the bottom of the form. Players signed to AHL contracts do not qualify.
