As the Olympics ensue, so does the 20-day break for 18 players on the Carolina Hurricanes’ active roster. The other five are spread amongst four national teams in Milan-Cortina, and at the time of writing, eagerly await the chance to hit the ice once again.
Also eagerly awaiting the chance to see Hurricanes players hit the ice are we, the loyal fans and writers.
The Hurricanes have had one heck of a season thus far, with injuries, stretches of greatness followed by spurts of subpar play, and an insane story in net with Brandon Bussi. Currently rocking a 21-8-2 record, Carolina sits a hair behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference standings, and just third leaguewide…don’t get me started on first-place Colorado Avalanche…unless you want to.
However, there is an uncommon quietness in the league, which is currently frozen from trades until February 22nd to accommodate the break. Once it all resumes again, there will only be 12 days until the trade deadline.
That is to say, we’re in the calm before the storm.
So, let’s cause a little ruckus with a good ol’ fashioned mailbag, eh?
Carolina Hurricanes Mailbag 1.0
Want to hear about trade targets? Send it! Have some thoughts to share about the state of the Hurricanes? I want to see that! Do you NEED to discuss goaltending? THAT IS MY JAM! Or maybe you just want to engage in a brief moment of tomfoolery and overall silliness…please, sign me up. Even non-hockey-related questions are welcome. This mailbag is the first of its kind here at Carolina Hockey Now, and what better way to scoot through the slowness of this time of the season than with some fun interactions and good topics.
Questions may be submitted here, on X, and even on Reddit, if you so wish. But make sure it’s in by Friday at 12 PM EST so it can be answered!
