New York Islanders’ star Bo Horvat has officially been named to the 2026 Team Canada Olympic roster.
This will mark the first time in Horvat’s career that he will be an Olympian. The NHL hasn’t participated in the Olympics since Sochi in 2014.
Horvat has been excellent for the Islanders. Per HockeyStats, He’s sporting a +2.07 WAR (wins-above-replacement) this season, tied for 14th best in the NHL.

Per HockeyStatCards, Horvat is rocking a +4.5 offensive rating, and those numbers bear out on the stat sheet. Horvat has been an offensive presence in nearly every game, scoring 33 points in 35 games. Horvat has two goals in three games since missing five games due to injury.

This marks a big change for Horvat. He wasn’t named to Team Canada’s Four Nations tournament just a year ago. He hasn’t just played his way into the conversation–he’s forced himself into the roster of the best of the best.
Team Canada will compete in Group A, battling against Team France, Team Czechia, and Team Switzerland. Canada plays its first game on Feb. 12 against Czechia.
The NHL’s Olympic Break for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, is from Feb. 6 to 24. The men’s gold medal game is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 22. The Islanders and Bo Horvat will play their final game before the break on Feb. 5 in New Jersey against the Devils. They’ll return to action on Feb. 26 in Montreal against the Canadiens.
