What It Would Take for the Wild to Land Auston Matthews
The Wild would need to go all-in on trading for Matthews. If the 28-year-old superstar requests a trade, there would be multiple teams bidding for his services. The only way the Wild would acquire Matthews on a discount is if he told Toronto that he wants “Minnesota, and only Minnesota.”
It could happen, but Minnesota can’t count on it. The organization would have to send elite prospects and several first-round draft picks to get the conversation underway. Jonas Brodin and Jesper Wallstedt would be a good starting point, but depending on the market, the Maple Leafs could ask for more.
