Sidney Crosby figures to be in the NHL rumor mill until he retires, and it’s a reasonable expectation. Crosby is still playing at a Stanley Cup-caliber level while the Pittsburgh Penguins are unlikely to make much noise over the next few seasons. So, with the three-time Stanley Cup champion being discussed in trades, which teams are linked to him?

According to Frank Seravalli on Bleacher Report, the Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Kings, and Colorado Avalanche have been discussed regarding a Crosby trade. All three NHL teams made the 2025 Stanley Cup playoffs; however, none of them advanced past the first round.

Montreal was eliminated by the Washington Capitals, Los Angeles was conquered by the Edmonton Oilers, and Colorado was taken down by Mikko Rantanen and the Dallas Stars. The most notable team is the Avalanche, which employs Nathan MacKinnon, a close friend of Crosby.

Despite the trade rumors, Crosby hasn’t shown any interest in moving from Pittsburgh yet, according to Seravalli. The 37-year-old center wants to compete but staying with the Penguins his entire career could become the priority. Crosby remains in Pittsburgh for now, but several teams will be waiting if he decides to pull the trigger on a trade request.
