Those wanting an alternative to the Madden franchise will get their wish next year. OneTeam Partners and 2K announced on Thursday that they have come to an agreement with the NFL Players Association to use their players in multiple football games.
Yes, that includes the now-defunct 2K franchise.
“We’re thrilled to be working with the NFLPA and OneTeam to bring the biggest and best stars in football to the games we’re working on,” 2K President David Ismailer said in a statement, via the company’s official website. “We want to give fans experiences that are authentic, memorable and fun, and having a roster of real-life sports heroes through the Players Association and OneTeam is a huge part of delivering on that promise.”
This is absolutely huge news for the gaming community. The 2K franchise last featured an NFL game back in 2004. Since then, it’s been all about Madden.
The expectation is that this game will be readily available on pretty much every platform within the gaming community. That includes Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows, Google Stadia, Android, iOs, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
It’s not yet known just how much the 2K franchise will impact Madden’s popularity moving forward. But having an alternative is a pretty big deal.
