A new report on the future of Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is sure to reignite recent Joe Burrow trade chatter.
A couple of weeks ago, the Bengals quarterback made fans in Cincinnati and around the country wonder if he wanted out of Ohio. Following a 39-38 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the superstar QB admitted he was having trouble finding enjoyment in his work and was frustrated by another losing season.
“If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing this,” Burrow said. “I have been through a lot. If it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for? That is the mindset I am trying to bring to the table… There are a lot of things going on right now. A lot of things are going on.”
The following week, a new report looked to quiet the speculation by claiming Burrow’s addiction to winning was behind his crashout, and he has no interest in being traded or even retiring — as some speculated. However, he has a clear frustration with the current state of the organization, and many wonder if head coach Zac Taylor is the problem.
CIN Bengals Not Expected to Fire Zac Taylor

Well, if Burrow secretly wants a head coach change, it looks like he won’t get it after the season. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport, Bengals owner Mike Brown still “believes” in Taylor after he took the team to the Super Bowl four years ago. And “there are no signs’ the organization has any plans of making a change in January.
Taylor has posted a 50-62-1 record during his seven seasons in Cincinnati and reached the playoffs on two occasions (2021 and 2022). He’s overseen a defense that has been among the worst in the league the last few years, and a bad offensive line that likely played a key role in why the QB continues to get banged up each year.
If Taylor does stay as reported, you can bet the speculation will intensify that the two-time Pro Bowl may force his way out of Cincinnati.
