A new report suggests that if Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t have a big season in 2026, executives around the game think this will be his last in the city of Brotherly Love.

In just six seasons, Hurts has already solidified his place as one of the best signal callers to ever wear an Eagles uniform. After taking on the starting job in his sophomore season (2021), the second-round pick has gone to the Pro Bowl three times and led the team to a pair of Super Bowl trips, including a win and MVP honors in 2024.

Yet it has not always been easy for Hurts in Philadelphia. He has had to deal with multiple different offensive coordinators during his career, and has been more resistant to being pushed out of his comfort zone to a level that frustrated teammates and the organization last season.

However, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, with Sean Mannion set to call players in 2026, Hurts has been “As open as he’s ever been” to new approaches to the offense this offseason. Furthermore, he has worked extensively with receivers Devonta Smith and veteran Elijah Moore in recent months.

Jalen Hurts will hit the trade block next year if he doesn’t improve in 2026

Yet, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of pressure on the QB after regressing last season. Hurts has something to prove in 2026, and if he can’t have a bounce-back year, some around the game think it will be his last with the Eagles.

“Hurts I could see,” an AFC executive told Fowler when asked if Philly could move him next year if the offense struggles. “Polarizing player, and as his running ability starts to decline, his value will decline, too. And [Eagles general manager Howie Roseman] will always be proactive with finding solutions.”

Fowler notes that Philadelphia would take a $2.9 million salary cap hit if he were traded before June 1, 2027. But they would save $21.4 million on that year’s cap if he’s dealt after June 1. Similar to the ongoing situation with AJ Brown and expectations that they are waiting until June 1 to trade him.

Philadelphia Eagles QB predicted to have a big season in 2026

However, a personal evaluator who spoke to Fowler believes Jalen Hurts is set to have a big season. This could then give the QB the leverage if he pushed for a contract extension after the season.

“I think he’s going to play well,” the NFC personnel evaluator said. “He’s had so many different coordinators over the years that he’ll be able to adapt to the changes, and if the running game returns to form, he throws it well over the top.”
