On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles made a move that some fans wanted to see happen much earlier, when the season was still ongoing. Now that the Eagles have demoted first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, it’s up to head coach Nick Sirianni to find a new playcaller for the fourth year in a row.
Though with a skill position group as good as the Eagles have, it shouldn’t take long to find a capable replacement. Just 24 hours after the Eagles announced a coaching change, they’ve already begun lining up potential replacements.
Specifically, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll “are at the top of their list” to replace Patullo in Philadelphia.
Both former head coaches earned their chance at the top job thanks to their previous success leading high-powered offenses. Now, they could get an opportunity to return to glory by taking over an Eagles offense led by Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith.
The Eagles saw their scoring offense drop from seventh in 2024 to 19th in 2025. The goal will be to get back to the top ten in 2026, but they’ll be relying on a new playcaller to get there.
