Like the New York Giants, who fired their previous head coach during the season, the Tennessee Titans got a head start on their coaching search when they let go of Brian Callahan after falling to 1-5. Yet, unlike the Giants, the Titans have yet to find their next head coach.
But that could be changing soon.
The Titans have identified and interviewed seven candidates to be their next coach. Now, they could be closing in on their top candidate.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Titans now have a list of three head coaching finalists. They are:
- San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh
- Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy
- Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley
Tennessee is set to speak to all three head coaching candidates in the next 36 hours. From there, they’ll presumably be ready to name their next head coach.
Interestingly enough, all have previous head coaching experience. Though only Saleh and Nagy have been NFL head coaches. Hafley’s time as a team leader came with the Boston College Eagles. Yet, he’s become known as a rising star in the coaching industry after leading the sixth-ranked scoring defense in 2024 and the 11th-ranked unit this past season.
Hafley compiled a 21-26 record, plus a bowl win at BC from 2020-23. Meanwhile, Saleh compiled a 20-36 record as the New York Jets’ head coach from 2021 to 2024. Nagy led the Chicago Bears to a respectable 34-31 record from 2018 to 2021.
