After winning a total of just six games across the past two seasons, some think the Tennessee Titans could have a hard time recruiting a top-notch head coaching candidate. Yet, the Titans have managed to set up interviews with several high-profile candidates.

But not the most sought-after candidate in the NFL, yet. However, there could be hope on the horizon.

According to the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Titans are “firmly in the mix” to hire former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

“As we wait for John Harbaugh to finalize his interviews, sources say he likes what he sees in the Titans — Cam Ward, $100m+ in cap space, high picks, new stadium, GM Mike Borgonzi,” Garafolo said. “Not saying he’s going to Tennessee. Just that, for now, I expect them to be firmly in the mix.”

With eight NFL teams still searching for their next coach (seven if we remove the Ravens), it would come as a complete shock if the Titans ended up with the NFL’s most desirable coaching candidate. Yet, it would be the type of move that shows Tennessee is serious about returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

As Garafolo noted, the Titans do have a lot working in their favor when it comes to presenting their next coach with the opportunity to put his fingerprint on the roster.

After witnessing the Patriots go from a four-win team to one that celebrated 14 victories with the second-year growth of Drake Maye, plus several high-dollar investments into the roster, folks are keeping an eye on Tennessee and wondering if they can experience a similar second-year leap led by Cam Ward. But first they have to find the right head coach, much like the Patriots did with Mike Vrabel.
