Who won Super Bowl MVP? The Super Bowl LX matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots has come to a close. In addition to the Lombardi Trophy being awarded, we also have a new name added to the history books of Super Bowl MVP winners. Tonight, we’re ranking candidates from Super Bowl LX.

Let’s dive into our Super Bowl MVP candidates rankings from the Seahawks vs Patriots matchup, with Seattle offering quite a few compelling options with one clear-cut pick.

5. Christian Gonzalez, CB, New England Patriots

The Super Bowl MVP will never come from the losing team in modern times, but Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez at least made a case for it tonight. He single-handedly took two touchdowns off the board–first with a display of elite athleticism and then later with equally impressive instincts at the goal line–and excelled in coverage. The thing is, Gonzalez has been playing like this for the entire postseason. Only 23 years old, Gonzalez could put himself in the conversation to be the best cornerback in the NFL next season.

4. Derick Hall, EDGE, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks saw a matchup they could take full advantage of in the Super Bowl, and they seized on it. Entering Sunday night, Seahawks’ edge rusher Derick Hall had two sacks in 16 games this season, including the playoffs. Using all of the power in his 6-foot-3, 254-pound frame, Hall worked over Patriots’ left tackle Will Campbell with ease. Hall led the team in sacks (two) and tackles for loss (two) and tied for the team high with two quarterback hits. There’s always an unheralded player who steps up in the Super Bowl, tonight it was Hall.

3. Jason Myers, K, Seattle Seahawks

Sportsbooks certainly protected themselves during the game tonight by not giving fans a chance to bet on Jason Myers to win Super Bowl MVP. Quite frankly, given he broke the NFL record for most field goals converted in a Super Bowl (five) and he put up 17 points on his own, we think it would at least be fair to give Seattle’s placekicker a new car. Myers, who led the NFL in scoring during the regular season, can at least feel good about winning a Super Bowl ring and knowing this is the closest a kicker ever came to taking home MVP honors in the biggest game.

2. Devon Witherspoon, CB, Seattle Seahawks

It says a lot about this game that three of our top Super Bowl MVP candidates come from the defensive side of the ball. Devon Witherspoon did not make the jaw-dropping plays in coverage that we saw from Christian Gonzalez, but he left his mark as a blitzer and still wowed with his all-around performance. Witherspoon’s ability to explode into the backfield resulted in two QB hits, one tackle for loss, and a sack. As for his work in coverage, he was nearly flawless. He also delivered the dagger, with a blitz resulting in effectively a strip-sack (caught midair for an interception) that was returned for a touchdown. There’s a case to be made for co-MVP.

1. Kenneth Walker III, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Kenneth Walker III is the Super Bowl MVP, in our view. We will point to a variety of NFL stats from tonight. Seattle’s running back had nearly twice as many scrimmage yards (100) as the Patriots’ offense had total yards (52) on nearly half as many plays. At one point midway through the game, Walker had even recorded as many total yards as the entire Seahawks’ offense. In the end, he finished the night with 161 scrimmage yards. It does not matter that he did not find the end zone; Walker is the Super Bowl MVP.
