The Seattle Seahawks may be the reigning Super Bowl champions, but even winners have needs. Seahawks general manager John Schneider has been busy addressing the team’s weaknesses all offseason long.
Of course, the Seahawks’ needs aren’t as great as some other teams. We saw examples of that in the 2026 NFL Draft, when the Seahawks selected running back Jadarian Price with the 32nd overall pick, despite him commonly being projected to land in the second round.
On Wednesday, the Seahawks addressed one of those needs with a small trade involving the New York Jets.

According to The Athletic‘s Jets insider Zack Rosenblatt, wide receiver Irvin Charles has been traded to the Seahawks in exchange for a 2028 seventh-round pick.
Charles is a 29-year-old receiver who went undrafted out of Indiana (PA) in 2022. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound receiver has bounced on and off the Jets’ active roster and practice squad since 2022.
Despite being a wide receiver, Charles has never caught a pass. He has, however, made significant contributions on special teams, recording 14 tackles and even blocking a punt.
Odds are, the Seahawks are looking at Charles purely as a special teams contributor, rather than someone who will catch many passes from Sam Darnold. The Seahawks will be the second NFL team that Charles plays for, but even after arriving via trade, he still has a lot of work to do to earn a spot on Seattle’s roster.
