San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has worked with a lot of excellent players in his career. Many of them are either in the conversation or on track for the Hall of Fame. 49ers general manager John Lynch has just added another one into the mix.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the 49ers have signed wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year contract worth up to $60.4 million. The same Evans who is tied with Jerry Rice as the only players with 11 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
It’s a shock for Evans to even leave the Buccaneers after spending all 12 seasons of his career in Tampa Bay. Yet, free agency can lead to wacky outcomes, like Tom Brady leaving New England.
Nevertheless, Evans, the franchise’s leader in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, takes his Super Bowl trophy from Tampa to San Francisco, where he’ll look to help another elite core make a push to add to their franchise’s Lombardi count.

The 32-year-old six-time Pro Bowl receiver is coming off the least productive season of his career after a fractured collarbone limited him to just eight games. He recorded 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
Still, Evans brings a whopping 13,052 yards and 108 touchdowns to San Francisco. The potential future Hall of Famer ranks 21st on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards list. Another 1,000-yard season would catapult Evans to 12th, just ahead of Hall of Famers James Lofton and Cris Carter.
