It has been a busy day in the camp of the Seattle Seahawks. Among the huge news was the trade of defensive end Michael Bennett and a seventh-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a fifth-round pick and wide receiver Marcus Johnson.
Many viewed the trade as somewhat lopsided in favor of the Eagles. Now, that the dust has settled a bit, this newest piece of news has come about. The New England Patriots reportedly would have given up a third-round pick in exchange for Bennett and a fifth-round pick.
Let's try this again… @RapSheet said with @IanFurnessSea the Patriots offered a 3rd round pick for Michael Bennett and a 5th round pick. The Seahawks went forward with the Philly deal because the NE deal came in late and Seattle would have looked horrible to go back on Philly.

But, the Seahawks did the classy thing and stuck with the Eagles’ offer which they reportedly received first.
Talk about having both Super Bowl 52 teams in pursuit of Bennett. Even at 32, Bennett has proven to be a strong contributor. He recorded 8.5 sacks and 40 combined tackles en route to a Pro Bowl performance last season.
No wonder both the Eagles and Patriots were quick to try to acquire him. But just like in the Super Bowl, the Eagles stole the win.
