NFL Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger

In a new report by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could be out for the next four-to-six weeks after surgery on a meniscus tear in his knee.

The surgery likely wasn’t highly invasive, however, torn meniscus surgeries never leave much room to recover quickly. Roethlisberger would be a tough guy to replace for the Steelers, as he’s been having a great season so far.

Landry Jones will be his replacement, but the Steelers will be on a quick downfall if Roethlisberger can’t come back sooner than the next six weeks. This takes the Steelers from a potential No. 2 seed in the playoffs to a team that is going to have to fight for its playoff life.
