No team should be happier than the Seattle Seahawks after getting a convincing victory in Super Bowl LX. Though, like every other NFL team, now there’s work to do before the next season can start.
Part of that process involves filling out the coaching staff after seeing offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Now that the Seahawks have hired their replacement playcaller, Brian Fleury, they can get back to focusing on the roster.
There will be several decisions to make on key free agents whose prices have surely increased after Seattle’s successful playoff run. Players with expiring contracts include Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III and All-Pro receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed.
However, according to Shaheed, he’d “love” to sign a contract extension that keeps him in Seattle for years to come. He recently admitted as much in a conversation with NFL.com’s Judy Battista and NFL Network, saying he’d like to “run it back” with his teammates.
“Absolutely, absolutely, yeah,” Shaheed said. “Conversations are definitely going to be heating up towards March. But you know, I would love to come back. I loved my experience here, I’m loving the Pacific Northwest, and obviously, the organization is second to none. I kind of want to run it back. We just won the Super Bowl, so, you know, why not?”
Shaheed, 27, will surely generate interest from other teams in free agency too. So, if the Seahawks are serious about keeping him in town, they may want to negotiate a new deal before he’s allowed to hit the open market and see what he’s really worth.
