Like last offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers are still playing the waiting game with Aaron Rodgers. The top quarterbacks have already signed elsewhere. As a result, the Steelers have missed out on Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, Geno Smith, and Malik Willis. More are sure to follow.

Yet, eventually, there will be a point where the Steelers need an answer from the 42-year-old. Will he return for a 22nd NFL season? Some don’t think the Steelers should bother waiting around for the future Hall of Famer.

Recently, legendary former Steelers safety Rod Woodson made his case to NFL Network’s Rich Eisen for why he believes the Steelers should plan for 2026 without Rodgers.

“What is it with these ex-Green Bay Packer quarterbacks that they have to be talked about all the time?” Woodson told Rich Eisen. “Because Brett Favre was that way for years. Is [Rodgers] gonna play? Listen, I get kind of tired of it. Like, listen, if he’s gonna play, say he’s gonna play, he’s gonna come back. And the team shouldn’t wait for Aaron Rodgers. They need to move forward.”

Look, Woodson isn’t the first one to share his opinion on Rodgers. Our hunch is that the quarterback doesn’t care what a retired Steeler thinks. Besides, Rodgers may be the Steelers’ best option at this point, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still strengthen the depth chart later, perhaps even through the 2026 NFL Draft.
