It’s no secret that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is one of the most active roster-builders in the NFL. He’s constantly gauging the trade market, trying to build the best version of the Eagles he possibly can.

We’ve already seen Eagles trade rumors involving the likes of shipping out AJ Brown or trading for pass-rusher Jonathan Greenard from the Vikings. Now, there’s another idea that Eagles fans can dream about.

Recently, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton had an Eagles trade idea that would land three-time second-team All-Pro safety Jessie Bates III in Philadelphia. Of course, there’s no guarantee that the Falcons are looking to trade one of their best defenders, yet he’d be a great get for Philadelphia.

“General manager Howie Roseman can attempt to make another deal with the Falcons for Jessie Bates III. At 29, Bates is still a premier coverage safety. He’s recorded at least three interceptions in four consecutive seasons. Last year, the eight-year veteran allowed a 73.7 passer rating.

Nonetheless, in the final year of his contract, Bates has an inflated cap number of $24.8 million. With a new regime in place, Atlanta may consider trading him for draft capital. If that’s the case, the Eagles can pounce on an opportunity to add a Pro Bowl-caliber defender to their secondary.”

After the Eagles lost Reed Blankenship in free agency and traded Sydney Brown to Atlanta, a strong case could be made for Philadelphia to poke around the safety market. Whether Bates is truly available is up for debate, but it’s not hard to imagine Atlanta considering trade offers for Bates rather than paying him $24.8 million in 2026.
