Philadelphia Eagles rumors have been hot and heavy all offseason long. That’s typically the norm with general manager Howie Roseman running the show.
The Eagles even pulled off a semi-blockbuster on draft weekend, landing Pro Bowl pass rusher Jonathan Greenard from the Minnesota Vikings. Yet, the worst-kept secret is that the Eagles likely aren’t done making deals.
The most-talked-about trade in the NFL right now, and for months, is the expected move of sending three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown, potentially to the New England Patriots. Brown is widely expected to be dealt, but the actual destination isn’t quite set in stone.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, it’s “sort of understood” that Brown will be traded at some point, likely on or after June 1. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been gathering teammates for workouts, but to no surprise, Brown hasn’t been there.
“You like how I slipped that in there? Let me put it this way, A.J. Brown’s not at these workouts, so it’s sort of understood right now,” said Fowler.
Fowler also added that DeVonta Smith is now the Eagles’ new No. 1 receiver. Obviously, that title used to belong to Brown, but Smith was actually the team’s leading receiver in 2025, for the first time since Brown arrived via trade in 2022.
In other words, everyone involved with the Eagles appears to be operating with the mindset that Brown won’t be with Philadelphia in 2026. Whether he’ll be in New England or another destination remains to be seen.
