It feels like the Philadelphia Eagles acquire a new pass-rusher each offseason. That streak could continue in 2026 too with 37-year-old Brandon Graham’s future up in the air.
For now, Jalyx Hunt and Nolan Smith Jr. are slated to be the Eagles’ starting edge rushers, but that tandem only combined for 9.5 sacks in 2025. Elite players outperform those numbers all by themselves, and the Eagles are strongly pondering a move for a Pro Bowl edge rusher.
According to The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini, the Eagles have been in contact with the Minnesota Vikings about a trade for edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. The Vikings, who are under cap constraints, have reportedly been thinking about trading Greenard this offseason, and they’re asking for at least a Day 2 pick in return for the 28-year-old.
The Eagles actually appear close to a trade, as they’ve been in contact with Greenard’s agent about a potential new contract, should the trade go through. He reportedly wants a new deal after signing a four-year, $76 million contract with the Vikings as a free agent in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Vikings aren’t interested in giving Greenard a raise after he recorded just three sacks in 10 games last season. Thus, a trade seems like a very real possibility for a Vikings team that also has Andrew Van Ginkel and Dallas Turner at the edge rusher position.
