In a massive blow for a floundering Carolina Panthers squad, elite All-Pro center Ryan Kalil has been placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the 2016 season per the Carolina Panthers official website. To make matters worse for a beaten and battered Cam Newton, backup center Gene Gradkowski has also been placed on injured reserve.
Gradkowski had filled in admirably for Kalil. Now both are unavailable.
This leaves the Panther to rely on Tyler Larsen, an undrafted free agent whose total career experience of four games in the NFL has come at guard.
With a patchwork offensive line getting thinner by the minute, the Panthers have signed center Ryan Wendell and offensive tackle Dan France, both of whom could be called upon in this weekend’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks if the Panthers’ poor injury luck holds.
At some point, you just begin to feel extremely bad for Cam Newton and this Panthers squad that was the darling of the NFL just last season.
