The Tennessee Titans will be retooling their roster this offseason after hiring a new head coach. They moved forward with the defensive-minded Robert Saleh after cutting bait from the offensive-minded Brian Callahan. Now, it’s time to do something about a Titans defense that ranked 28th in points allowed in 2025.
Tennessee will surely invest in some free agents who can hopefully help make an immediate impact. Yet, the better long-term fits may arrive in the 2026 NFL Draft, where the Titans hold the fourth overall pick.
Recently, Essentially Sports’ NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline suggested Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey is the “perfect” pick for coach Saleh. In fact, Pauline said he’d be “shocked if the Titans pass on him.”
Bailey recorded an FBS-high 19.5 sacks in his lone season at Texas Tech, helping him earn first-team All-American status. Now, he’s made to make his mark on the NFL.
The Titans recorded 42 sacks as a team last season, which ranked right in the middle of the pack. Adding a potential impact player like Bailey could help make them an above-average defense rather than one that’s subpar.
Tennessee also has the 35th and 66th picks in the draft, giving them plenty of ammo to add immediate contributors. Finding an effective pass-rusher is certainly on their wish list, and Bailey might fit the bill.
